Press the Button doesn't have accounts, doesn't use cookies, and doesn't run analytics or tracking scripts of any kind. There's nothing to sign up for and nothing about you that we store. The rest of this page explains exactly what does happen when you use the site.
Nothing, on our end. The button and the mood chips run entirely in your browser โ pressing the button picks a link from a local list and opens it. We don't log which sites you land on, how often you press, or which mood chips you use.
Our hosting provider automatically records standard server access logs for every website it serves, the same as any web host โ things like IP address, browser type, and request time. We don't access this for tracking purposes and don't connect it to anything else.
We don't set any cookies, and the site doesn't save anything to your browser's local storage. Nothing persists between visits โ every time you open the site, it starts fresh.
The form on our Contact page doesn't submit to a server or a database. It simply opens your own email app with the message pre-filled, addressed to contact@pressboredbutton.com. Nothing is sent to us until you actually send that email yourself, and at that point it's subject to your own email provider's privacy practices, not ours.
Press the Button's whole purpose is sending you to other, independent websites โ either loaded inside the page or opened in a new tab, depending on whether that site allows embedding. We test that each one loads before it's added to the rotation, but we don't control those sites and can't speak for their privacy practices, cookies, or tracking once you land there.
Press the Button isn't directed at children, and since we don't collect any personal information from anyone, there's nothing collected from children either. Some of the third-party sites in the rotation may have their own age policies โ check their individual privacy pages if that matters to you.
If this policy ever changes โ for example, if we add analytics or advertising in the future โ we'll update this page and change the date above. As of the date at the top, everything on this page is accurate.
If anything here is unclear, get in touch.
